TechCrunch had invitations for Musana, a digital music locker service. I grabbed one of them, and soon had my own little slice of the Music Happiness Center, as Musana describes itself.

I haven’t found happiness at Musana yet. Of the 8 tracks I tried to upload, only 2 made it. There were no error messages about the other 6. The two that did make it were the smallest. That makes me suspect that it’s something to do with file size, but the upper limit specified is 15MB/file, and none of the files is over 10.

The Musana people aim to develop numerous music related services and the most accurate recommendations to suit your musical tastes. I need to keep better track of all these music lockers up there in the cloud. I don’t just mean that I’d like a better handle on feature comparisons.

I mean that I wish I could remember where I put which music files. I’d like a tool to keep track of the lockers I’ve tried out, stashing music in them as I did so. MetaLocker? LockerTracker?

Many thanks for your thorough and fierce comment Andrew.

On the upload, files are uploaded if not bigger that 15MB/file and then made available in your library if clearly identified with Gracenote MusicID technology. Please feel free to post the list in our contact form for us to analyse this issue and come back to you. We are striving to implement an accurate music recognition feature and therefore your feedback is most precious to us.

Your suggestion on tracking your many lockers accounts in one place, potentially on Musana, is a great idea and we will definitely put it on right place on our enhancements and new features roadmap.

Once again, thank you for trying musana. Looking forward to keeping you happy with your music.

Terrific service. I uploaded 3 albums in just a few minutes although that was on a mega fast connection, home broadband is a little slow to work with (tbh, i gave up). Once uploaded, the service works great, I’m really into this. Slightly worried about the 60 day timeout although i can understand why - is there any chance to re-activate an account after this time period? Also, there is a distinct lack of detailed info but i guess that you’re doing that on purpose during this beta phase. Well done Team Musana. Thanks you, i’ll be back.

There’s a distinct lack of instructions. I want to play my whole selection randomly, but i can’t. There’s a shuffle button, but it only shuffles my current playlist. 700+ tracks uploaded iwth no issues but as far as new features, something unique or enlightening goes, you’re not really showing me how to make the most of my music.

maybe i’m missing something, in which case i’d say, its not very obvious. i’m liking the service, but you really need to offer me something more.

also, why do you provide links to the item on amazon at the bottom of my screen. i have already bought this music. i want something new?!?!?

i think you guys are missing the point here, or you’re having difficulty explaining it.

# Andrew,

Musana’s private beta is here to gather user’s comments and get improved day by day. User’s wishes and our features roadmap are progressing faster than our development capacity ;-).
Allowing you to store, identify and listen your music anywhere is a first step. Our goal is definitely to let you enrich your experience i.e. the Amazon link is the primitive version of our future aggregation of services and recommendation engine. This will definitely help to do more with your Music, from your Music Happiness Center.

Please keep in mind that you can access video tutorials on how to use Musana.
A bit of patience and you will get more …

Thanks again for your contribution.
Feel free to post your dream features here.

Hi…Thanks for the nice read, keep up the interesting posts.
